In my congregation, illegal immigrants are not allowed to serve as ministerial servants, elders etc due to them not following the law, which is that you need to be a legal citizen.

Illegal immigrants in the organization?
by silent ini had a thought today that might prove interesting.
i'm wondering if there are any illegal immigrants who are witnesses?
surely it would be a great position to be in as an illegal immigrant because you could play up your plight and prey on the sympathies of others within the congregation.

Did you AWAKEN from the JWs by yourself?
by cultBgone ini was thinking about how so many posters here on jwn are frustrated and frantic to help their loved ones get away from the brainwashing of jws, and how much advice is given about how to help family members and loved ones.
i considered my own leaving and that it was internal turmoil based on the teachings getting weirder and child abuse issues, to name just a few, and it made me wonder:.
did you self-awaken or were you assisted by the gentle proddings of a friend or family member?

I wIle up due to field service. There those house we went into in which the man used to go to the witness meetings for some time. Then he started talking about how he found out about the false end of the world predictions. I was surprised because I didn't know about this. And the brother I was with didn't say he was wrong, he was trying to justify why the watchtower predicted the end of the world. So I couldn't believe and so I did what most JW's are scared of, searched the Internet. Once I found out about morthAnd more then it became clear to me that this is not the truth as I was raised to believe.
So people, when witnesses come knocking at your door, confront them about this because in this day and age of technology, most youngsters have internet so who knows if they'll be willing to search like I did.

We Are A "Vast Army"
by mrquik ini know many have suffered to varying degrees at the hands of this cult.
one of the first casualties is our self- esteem.
our awakening takes us all on different paths.

Is it worth it trying to wake up a friend and my parents?
by Mr. Self-Destruct inmy situation right now is trying that how my friend and parents that the jw's are not the true religion.
i've shown numerous examples of flip flopped doctrine, false predicions, the validity of the jesus choosing the bible students in 1919 and more.
but it seems that although the recognize these mistakes they ask me, "aren't you happy the organization is making progress?

@XkhanX
Yes I'm grateful I woke up at an early age. I've known TTATT since I was 14 but I didn't let it bother me cause I was told to ignore all anti watchtower literature and through this 3 years course, I got baptized (biggest mistake of my life!!) but yeah now I'm sort of trapped and I'll try not to get Df'ed before anytime soon because my life will go downhill since I'm not prepared to be on my own yet.

But it seems that although the recognize these mistakes they ask me, "aren't you happy the organization is making progress?" It's just so ridiculous that they try to justify these actions by calling it "new light" or saying things will become clearer at the last days. I know they're indoctrinated by how hard is it really to see what this isn't the truth???? It's so frustrating!
But yeah, should I continue to try and wake them up?
I'm only 17 so I live with my parents so it's not like I can avoid not talking about the Watchtower.

Are you an "out of the closet" atheist?
by rebel8 ini'm atheist and not ashamed of it.
however, it is so politically incorrect, especially where i live.
i have a legitimate concern that being out of the closet too much will hurt my career or neighborly relations--i know for a fact it probably would.. i'm really cautious about who i tell.. how about you?

I'm an in the closet atheist. Only person that knows is my girlfriend and other than her I'm not panning on expressing my real beliefs just yet. Mostly cause I'm only 17 years old, baptized within the religion (biggest mistake of my life) and still live with both ofy parents who are really devout JW's :/

Today's WT study!. Watch out for the "wicked" in the cong!
by stuckinarut2 inhow strange today's study was!.
warning examples of apostacy, and saying to all witnesses "watch for bad associations in the cong".
talk about paranoia and distrust amongst themselves!.

I studied this article with my family last night and cut was so hard not to speak up and tell them it's a cult. And now we're off to the meeting, oh the paranoia.
